Introduction
This post is about the books that I have researched and the citations that I have gathered in order to create my theory of my dissertation.

Citations from Books, Online Journals and Websites
Whilst the books I read were very helpful into the design of my theory and in turn the idea for my practice, there were only a few quotes that I used for my dissertation, as it was close to the scope of the argument I was trying to make in my essay. That is not to say there was not much in the way of citations that I could have used, but rather that the whole book itself was as massive contributor to how I thought and reflected when writing my dissertation for the theory portion of my final practice. The reading list also inspired in turn the ideas that I had as to how I would direct the my educational participatory documentary portion for my practice.

Articles and Websites:
What is documentary? The genre defined by Video Maker.
"A non-fiction motion picture intended to document reality primarily for the purposes of instruction, education, or maintaining a historical record".
SUNDAY SNIPPET: HIDEO KOJIMA By Michael Kwan from Beyond the Rhetoric.
"We ought to remember the past, yes — but we shouldn’t allow it to consume us. We live in the present moment, and some people are too tied to the ideals of that period to fully move forward. We’ll never work through the future unless we accept the present. We must fill the twenty-first century with dreams".
Movie adaptations of video games are still mostly terrible. Why has no one cracked the code? - By Keza MacDonald, from the Guardian.
"the issue with adapting video games for film is that there’s a lot of well-known gameplay features that just don’t translate into film making".
George R.R. Martin Was ‘Out of the Loop’ of ‘Game Of Thrones’ TV Ending - By Cody McIntosh from Screen Crush
"By season 5 and 6, and certainly 7 and 8, I was pretty much out of the loop".
Kojima talks about his gaming influences and career: ‘I didn’t want my characters to be lines of code’ By C Mahr from Metal Gear Informer
"I don’t think of my games as dark. I’m trying to make them more realistic. When I started making games 30 years ago, they were far from realistic. Characters had no background, there was no real story to them. So I made it my mission to depict these elements of the story. I didn’t want my characters to be lines of code, I wanted them to be people. Living, organic things. I also wanted to convey the struggles that these characters have been through, some of the more difficult background they have had. So I see this not as adding dark elements to the game, but rather adding depth."
Participatory Documentary and the City By Studio Dmau
"Participatory documentary itself is a form of film production that directly involves people and communities in a collaborative and inclusive filmmaking process".
Conclusion
There are a lot of citations I could have listed here, but like when I was writing the dissertation there were only a few that I felt were truly relevant when crafting my theory portion of my final project. The citations above were the most influential that I had found during my research and helped greatly in the development of my paper, and my documentary.
Thanks for reading!
